What have I learnt about technologies from the process of costructing this product?
I have learned to use many things while creating this product but the one that I believe I have learned from the most is Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0. I used this programme to edit most of the videos on my blog, the preliminary task and the final. It really is one of the best programmes I've seen for doing something like this and would recommend it if anyone was making a small-time movie or something. I'm sure there are fancier systems out there to use with more stuff but this covers the basics and after you figure it all out is really easy to pick up.
Of course a video camera was needed to film the project and I have learnt a fair bit about filming with it too. Not so much technology but all the shots possible and the add-ons to the camera like dolly's and tri-pods. I still think I need to look more into the effects and gadgets of the camera but I believe I have learnt more than I ever did when it comes to filming with them.
For a lot of shots, my group used a tri-pod. This is very handy since it allows you to film something without having to hold the camera at all and it keeps it firm in place and steady. I already knew about tri-pods but never have used one so that was an experience ad it seems like a good piece of equipment to have when filming. I will definitely be using one if I ever have to film something again.
For part of the project, my group and I used a camera phone to take pictures of what we were doing. From animatics to editing and preliminarys to finals, they were all documeted on a phone which is a handy tool on set of a film, something I have picked up.
This is a weird one but I believe I have really extended my knowledge of the world of YouTube during this project. I had no idea on half the stuff you could do with it. I have learnt how to annotate something and how to embed YouTube videos to my blog. It has opened my mind a bit more into what the internet is capable of when it comes to filming a project and how much good stuff is available to you when filming.
